Ideal getaway in peaceful location
This modern villa has been restored from an older property and completely upgraded with new appliances and furniture, and painted throughout during Easter 2010. It is child friendly. Situated between two villages on its own hilltop yet within easy reach of all amenities, this villa is perfect both for people seeking a quiet relaxing getaway and those looking for active outdoor pursuits which are plentiful in the surrounding area.
The villa is on three floors, has a very large patio (floodlit for night time dining) with a swimming pool and also a roof terrace for evening dining. There is a large dining table (not shown) on the patio that seats 10 people and which looks out over stunning mountains and valleys. Balconies from the bedrooms give individual privacy and extra space. The only neighbours are the sheep from the nearby farm where you can buy their own homemade sheep and goats cheese.
Outside
Relax and cool off in the swimming pool on the patio, which is above ground level, (5 metres wide, 1.2 metres high) while sipping a glass of wine and taking in the magnificent views of the mountains and valleys all the way to the sea. Beyond the terrace is the hillside garden sloping down away from the house. The garden is stocked with many fruit trees such as olives, cherries and persimmons, perfect for a little snack or addition to your menu when in season.

Surrounding Area
Coast/Beach
30 mins drive to beaches which are very clean, sandy, with warm gentle waves.
Skiing
Nearest ski resort is 30 mins by car. Small resort with all facilities. Larger resorts are a longer drive away. South in Italy. Skiing here is generally gentle through beech woods. Just an hour’s drive away are numerous larger resorts including Roccaraso. The highest point is 2,141 metres with 156km of pistes of varying difficulty. The region as a whole has 21 ski areas located in the highest region of the Apennines and they often have more snow than the Alps. Abruzzo also is popular for cross country skiing, especially on the high plain of Campo Imperatore in the Gran Sasso. Prices are cheaper than in the Alps.
Travel
Car hire is recommended. 20 mins drive from Pescara airport. 2 hour drive from Rome Ciampino.
Distances
Few minutes drive to either medieval village. Well known abbey of Serramonacesca a few minutes away as is Volto Santo, the famous sanctuary in Manoppello. Many medieval towns and villages are within easy reach.
Further details
The area is of outstanding beauty set in the foothills of the mountains on the edge of the Majella National Park which is home to all sorts of wild animals (including wolves and bears!) Walks can be organised for mushroom or truffle gathering, picking wild asparagus, or just for sightseeing. Both local villages have banking facilities, shops, restaurants and cafes. One is sleepy and tranquil, one more lively. In the summer all the villages organise local festivals and there are medieval processions and exhibitions. Our local village organises a mountain walk. There are many untouched villages around with not a tourist in sight. This is hidden Italy. Beautiful clean beaches are within 30 minutes drive.
